Who this is for

You’ll get the most out of this if you:

  • Like training guided by thresholds, trends, and data.
  • Have a busy schedule that requires tight planning.
  • Care about long-term progress and learning as you go.

Not ideal if you: want a fixed “one-size plan,” prefer minimal communication, or aren’t willing to track the basics (load + key sessions + subjective notes).

The outcome

Over 6 months, we’re building three things:

1) Fitness that transfers to race day

Not just “good training weeks,” but repeatable performance. We target the adaptations that actually move the needle:

  • Aerobic development (mitochondrial density, capillarisation, substrate efficiency)
  • Threshold stability (better lactate kinetics and sustainable metabolic rate)
  • Running economy (less oxygen cost for the same pace/power)
2) A plan that survives real life

Most runners don’t fail because they “lack motivation.” They fail because the plan can’t absorb travel, stress, poor sleep, niggles, or time constraints.
We regular communication your training will maintain structure without losing the long term focus. 

3) Better decisions, faster

We’ll reduce fitness drop offs by using short feedback loops:

  • what we planned
  • what you did
  • what you said
  • what the data shows
  • what's coming up
    → and then we adjust only what needs adjusting.

  • Session-by-session oversight for key workouts

High-touch communication
  • 24-hour response window for questions/adjustments (often faster)
  • Quick decision support when things change (travel, fatigue, niggles, schedule blows up)
Scheduled coaching calls
  • Initial deep-dive (60 min): goals, constraints, baseline, calibration
  • Weekly review calls (30 min)
  • Optional: short “checkpoint” calls as needed around race weeks or major schedule changes
  • We'll often discuss equipment (shoes!). Session goals. Nutrition.


How it works

Step 1 — Fit + baseline

We clarify the target, assess your training history, and set reference points 

Step 2 — Build the engine

We increase capacity first: consistent training, durable progression, controlled load.

Step 3 — Specific preparation

As the goal approaches, training gets more specific. By this point we should have a clear understanding of "your numbers", so we can begin to make real progress.

Step 4 — Execute + review

Race execution is a performance problem, not just a fitness problem. We plan the lead-in, the pacing logic, and review  everything post-race to feed the next block.

What makes this different

A lot of coaching is either:

  • motivational support with vague guidance, or
  • rigid plans that updated a week at a time.

This is performance coaching built on physiology + feedback loops:

FAQ

What if my goal race changes?
That’s normal. We can adapt or pause coaching if it's a big shift. 

What if I get injured or need to take time off training?
We can pause coaching or look at a pro-rated refund if things aren't looking great.

Is this beginner-friendly?
It can be. As long as you’re ready for structure and honest feedback.
